Back to Montagne Saint-Émilion Open House

July 2025

A colourful weekend at the Montagne Saint-Émilion Open House

On June 7 and 8, Château Roc de Calon opened its doors wide for the Montagne Saint-Émilion appellation open house.
An eagerly-awaited, revitalized event, it marked our return to this format of sincere, friendly hospitality, in the image of what we stand for every day at Vignobles Laydis.

We were able to welcome the public to the estate in a festive, lively setting, designed to create a bond. And you were there: almost 150 people came to discover (or rediscover) our world. In fact, our vineyard was one of the top 5 most-visited estates in the appellation that weekend, a fine sign for this first edition after several years’ hiatus.

A moment of transmission and sharing

Over the course of the weekend, we met visitors from a wide range of backgrounds: the curious passer-by, amateurs, regulars… What they all had in common was a desire for an authentic experience in the heart of the vineyard.

For us, hosting is about more than just tasting wine. It’s about telling a story. The story of a family estate that has been rooted in the mountain landscape for over 100 years. It’s about explaining our choices, our vision, and the commitment we put into every bottle.
It’s also, quite simply, taking the time to exchange ideas and share a moment around what drives us: a taste for good, true, human values.

These two days have been conceived as an invitation to experience wine differently: without pretension, but with exacting standards and sincerity.

A complete immersion in the world of Roc de Calon

  • Guided tours and commented tastings punctuated the two days, allowing visitors to discover our work, our philosophy and the diversity of our cuvées.
A special event brought together Thomas Laydis and Estelle Mau (CestMadameQuiChoisitLeVin on Instagram), for a spontaneous and passionate exchange on wine, its evolution and the way we think about it on a daily basis.
  • In collaboration with students from the Vatel Bordeaux school, we have come up with an original creation: the Nuit Pourpre cocktail, based on our cuvée Summer by Roc de Calon : a fruity, light and refreshing 100% Merlot. A fine demonstration that wine can also go off the beaten track, with taste and daring.
  • Finally, on Sunday evening, we extended the day with a Summer Party featuring a DJ set from our friends at A13radio. The bucolic setting of the sunset over our vineyards enhanced this festive moment, in a relaxed atmosphere.

A wine in our image: lively, committed, sincere

Since 1922, our family has been committed to using wine as a vehicle for creating bonds. These two days have reminded us just how precious and meaningful these ties are.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped bring this event to life: our visitors, our teams, our partners and our friends!

See you soon!

This weekend was just the beginning. We’re already looking forward to seeing you again for more meetings and events!

Many thanks to you all. And we look forward to future meetings!
